Use and safety during restraint

Safety during restraint is our top priority. The Motor Unrest Chair is intended as a medical device to temporarily deprive patients who pose a danger to themselves and those around them of their liberty.
This form of restraint should only be used as a last resort in cases of extreme aggression. Always check for other, less restrictive solutions before restraining the patient. For example, first eliminate all causes of the patient's motoric restlessness, adjust the environment, or provide increased supervision. Patients with motoric restlessness also have the right to their liberty. Always obtain consent from the patient or their legal representative before any restraint intervention.

HOW DO YOU USE THE MOTOR UNREST CHAIR ?

  • 1
    Check the brakes

Make sure the brakes on the rear caster wheels are engaged before placing the patient in the chair.

  • 2
    Open the tablet

You can open the tablet with one of the included keys.

  • 3
Place the patient in the chair

Have the patient sit as far back as possible in the Motor Unrest Chair

  • 4
    Closing the tablet

Closing the tablet while the patient remains seated against the backrest. This prevents the upper body from coming into contact with the side of the tablet.

  • 5
    Leg positioning

Always check that the legs are slightly spread so that the abduction pommel, located at the bottom of the tablet, does not bump against the patient's knees.

  • 6
    Removing the key

Remove the key from the lock and store it in a place that is inaccessible to the patient.

Always manually check that the tablet is properly closed!

  • 7
    The wall anchor

Attach the Motor Unrest Chair to the wall using the wall anchor when the patient is extremely restless and the brakes no longer provide sufficient restraint.

  • 8
    Guidance

Closely monitor the patient and provide the necessary guidance. Once the patient has calmed down, remove them from the chair.
